TABE Online Locator Test Two Locator Test administration options: May be set up as a separate test session May be auto-assigned in TABE Online Student is automatically placed in TABE subtest levels based upon performance Student may be assigned to more than one level TABE Online has one Locator Test divided into four content areas—Reading, Mathematics Computation, Applied Mathematics, and Language. The entire Locator Test takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. It is recommended that the Locator Test be administered first. The results will indicate which level of TABE to use for each content area. If an examinee’s Locator Test scores indicate significant differences in Reading, Mathematics, and Language skills (e.g., more than two TABE levels apart), the examinee could be given TABE tests from different levels. Note: The function of the Locator Test is to place students in the appropriate level of TABE, e.g., E, M, D, or A. It should not be used to screen students or place them in instructional programs because it does not contain enough items to be reliable for that purpose. TABE Online Accommodations Accommodations are tagged in the student’s profile Extended-time test accommodation (time and ½, double time) Pause-test accommodation allowing student to take breaks during subtest Font/background color and font size accommodations for students with visual disabilities Studies indicate that 15% of the general population, 50 % of those enrolled in adult education, and 80% of inmates participating in prison education programs have a high incidence of symptoms of a Syndrome. Sensitivity of black font on what background creates visual distortions

View Status allows you to check the progress of individual students Toggle Validation: Rather than stopping a session for all students, you may want to invalidate a few students (for example, if some were caught cheating). If you invalidate one or more students' tests while they are logged into a session, they can continue working on it. This minimizes disruption and allows for a score to be recorded in the event that you later revalidate a student's attempt. College and Career Readiness (optional) Tests

TABE Testlets are “mini-tests” aligned to the College and Career Readiness framework. These are intended to provide a comparison between a student’s performance on a TABE test and the student’s performance on the CCR field test items at the same level. A student who is ready to take a High School Equivalency test but may not be familiar with CCR standards can take a Testlet to prepare for the High School Equivalency test. Educators get a basic report showing percent correct by CCR domain and level. This gives an indication of how students are performing to the College and Career Readiness Standards. Testlets are available via TABE Online. You must first give the student a TABE test. You can then schedule the student for a Testlet at the same level of difficulty. For example, you would first administer a TABE test at the M (Medium) level of difficulty, and then you can give the Testlet at the same level.

From the home page, go to “Schedule Session.” Assign Testlets in the same manner as scheduling any other test session. From the home page, go to “Schedule Session.”

From the Test Group drop-down menu, choose TABE Adult Common Core Experience.

Select the Testlet you wish at assign (Language, Reading, Math), add details as necessary, then SAVE.

Add students to the Testlet test session just as we added them before. Notice: student can only be added if he/she has taken a TABE Online test. Also, students can not repeat a Testlet at the same level of a subject, but can be assigned higher levels when ready. Click OK, then Save.

Accessing TABE Reports

Click the Reports tab at the top of the page. After students have completed testing, we need to access the test reports. Click the Reports tab at the top of the page.

Our choices of report types are shown. Let’s click on Individual Portfolio Report.

Choose the Test Name, Date Range, Class, and Student. Drill down options are available, to help you select the test and student report you need. Choose the Test Name, Date Range, Class, and Student. Click Submit.

The Portfolio Report provides this student’s Scale Score, Grade Equivalent, and NRS Level. Click on the magnifying glass under the student’s name to open the Profile Report.

Now you have access to much more data: Number of questions attempted, number correct, Mastery Levels, etc.
