Safety Zones Designed to protect areas or objects outside of the zone. They protect spectators, vessels, and waterways and shore areas by controlling access to activities within the zone. Most safety zones limit access during response to an emergency and can be set for an indefinite period of time. Security Zones A security zone is put into place to protect a certain object or area. Harbor Safety Committees The term “ Harbor Safety Committee” is defined in the broadest sense as a local port coordinating body whose responsibilities include recommending actions to improve the safety and efficiency of a port or waterway.
Benefits of HSC Improve Stakeholder Awareness on upcoming MEs, promote networking amongst HSC mbrs and gather input to minimize impact tonother WW users. Evaluate the effectiveness of current regulations and if necessary propose changes to promote safety. Identify local WW Congestion Concerns and find agreeable solutions to prevent reoccurrence Increase public awareness of safe boating courses available and promote best practices to ensure safe boating and compliance with required equipment.
