Instructions – please read carefully This exam is designed to test your ability to use SPSS to perform a set of analyses that have been covered in this class during the semester. For the exam you will be using a dataset based on a case study presented in your textbook called “AAA Concepts”. You are allowed to use a hard copy or PDF of the SPSS core exam guide. No other files, presentations, MS or internet applications are allowed. The use of such will result in exam termination. Upon completion, you will save the PPT file with your answers, rename by adding your first and last name and raise your hand to alert the instructor. You will submit your work over outlook in front of the instructor to the email rpetkov@aubg.edu and wait for verification  that it has been received. Good luck!

Instructions continued You need to answer 6 questions, which can bring you a total of 14 points equal to 14% of your final grade. You have 60 minutes to complete the exam. Each question is presented on an individual slide. Use the slide body to both provide an answer and paste the table and/or graphic output to support it. When providing your text answers to support the SPSS output make sure you: Choose proper statistical analyses based on the type of variable Read the variables carefully (you only get partial credit for wrong variables) Perform the analysis, create an output and copy it to this exam document State the analysis hypothesis clearly Write which variables you check, what is their value and Hence your determination whether the hypothesis holds or not Have with a clear answer to the question posed

Insert your answer here… Q1: Describe the demographic profile of the sample in terms of both “level of education” & “number of people in household”. Provide graphs for both. 3 pts Insert your answer here… As we can see from the chart and the table, the majority of the people (29.8%) hold a high school degree. We obtained this data through “descriptive statistics -> frequencies.” The measurements here are ordinal.

Insert your answer here Q1: Describe the demographic profile continued (include information on number of people in household here) Insert your answer here As we can see from the chart and the table, a vast majority of the people (39.5%) only have one person in the household. We obtained this data through “descriptive statistics -> frequencies.” This measurement level is scale.

Insert your answer here… Q2: Test the hypothesis that on general people tend to strongly agree that: “We should be looking for gasoline substitutes” 2 pts Insert your answer here… Ho: People strongly agree that we should be looking for gasoline substitutes. After testing this hypothesis using One-Sample T-test, we discovered that the hypothesis does not hold. It’s due to the fact that two-tailed significance is <0.05 and t-value is not within the range between -1.96 and 1.96.

Insert your answer here… Q3: Identify whether married and unmarried people differ in their opinion on the “Probability to buy a small (2 seat) hybrid auto within the next three years” 2 pts Insert your answer here… Ho: There is no difference between opinions of married and unmarried people on the “Probability to buy a small (2 seat) hybrid auto within the next three years.” The t-value is within the range between -1.96 and 1.96. Also, sig. 2-tailed is above .05. Thus, the hypothesis holds so the opinions of married and unmarried people are the same.

Q4: Identify whether there are at least two income groups that display similarity in their opinion on the “Probability of buying a standard size hybrid auto within the next three years” 2 pts Type your answer here… Ho: All income groups are similar in their opinion on “Probability of buying a standard size hybrid auto within the next three years.” However, as we see that the sig. value is below 0.05, this means that at least two groups are different. Thus, the hypothesis does not hold. Furthermore, since there are three groups under the subset for alpha, it indicates that there are three types of similar income groups. In subset one, there are at least two income groups that display similarity.

Insert your answer here… Q5: Identify whether the level of education is associated and plays a role in the “Favorite local newspaper section” selection. 2 pts Insert your answer here… Ho: the level of education is not associated with favorite local newspaper section. However, after conducing a Chi-square test, we see that P value is less than 0.05. Thus, the hypothesis does not hold. Level of education is related to favorite local newspaper section.

Insert your answer here… Q6: Identify whether there is a correlation, what is the strength and the direction among “Level of education”, “Primary vehicle price type” and “Income category”. 3 pts Insert your answer here… Correlation Strength Direction EduLevel / PrimVehiclePriceType Yes None + EduLevel / IncomeCat Very weak IncomeCat / PrimVehiclePriceType Moderate
