Registration Process and Yellow Pages «1st Data Providers workshop» Paola De Salvo Osamu Ochiai Geo Secretariat St Petersburg, 7/11/2016

Rationale and Scope The GEOSS Registration process aims to add a new resource Provider to GEOSS This process relies on the following principles and requirements Need of an operational simplified process with GEOSEC being at the head of the information Chain. Need to Build the (Human) Community of the GEOSS (System of Sytems) Data Providers Need to collect essential admin information and being able to use them for multiple scopes Importance of quality in metadata and data .

New Provider Registration Process GEOSS Brokering process aims to add a new enterprise system to the GEOSS supply system: To recognize a new GEOSS Provider; To recognize a new enterprise system which publishes the new set of datasets; To recognize a new set of datasets –or more than one- shared by the new Provider; To recognize one or more Web/Internet interfaces (or APIs) exposed by the new enterprise system to implement data sharing –i.e. discoverability and access

Towards a New Registration Process New Data Provider Contact/Call with a representative of the GEO sec – Learn on GEO and its work and why Open data and Share data. Fill in the Web Form available on the GEO website (Yellow Pages) GEO SEC Check the new Yellow Pages entry May release press news Virtually introduce the Provider Technical POC to GCI /GEO DAB team GCI/DAB Team Run tests and contact the Provider Technical Contact Point –if necessary Recognize the most effective Brokering Agreement Update the DAB and the monitoring tools Organizational Registration Techological Registration

Administrative Information – Yellow Pages (University of Geneva-GMU) Organization information (name, logo, etc.) Data Policy Administrative Contact point Technological (interoperability) Contact Point Label (to be shown in available data sources) Data Category Service end URL for testing

Workflow: Administrative Registration Data Provider after having discussed with GEO SEC fills a set of administrative information in Yellow Pages GEO SEC Team validates the provided information and stores it GEO Sec connects the Data Provider to the GEO DAB team to start the Brokering process

Workflow: Brokering Process Provider sends a set of technological (URL) information to the GCI/GEO DAB Team GCI/GEO DAB Team runs interoperability tests. Results are sent to Provider and GEO Sec To address possible issues, GCI/GEO DAB Team and Provider work toghether GCI/GEO DAB Team adds Provider’s system to GEOSS Brokered sources and informs the GEO Sec – with Provider in cc It test results are negative
