DRYING PRINCIPLES Sun Drying Mechanical Drying Commodity drying can be accomplished using either the traditional method of sun drying or by using mechanical dryers. Drying prolongs storage life of the commodities without quality deterioration. Delays in drying as well as improper drying operations downgrade the quality of farm produce. COLLABORATION WORKS GrainPro®, Inc. in close collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the University of Hohenheim (UOH) Germany, introduces the Solar Bubble Dryer™ (SBD): a modern drying innovation that minimizes the effects of unpredictable weather to commodities during its drying stage.

STORAGE PRINCIPLES Storage is the process of keeping grains (bag or bulk), in a storage structure designed to protect the stored product from inclement weather and pests for a short or long period of time to wait processing or movement to other location. Good storage management leads to insignificant storage losses and minimal deterioration of quality, giving profits and enabling quick repay of capital invested in grain storage installation.

STORAGE PESTS

ORGANIC STORAGE NORMAL ATMOSPHERE STORAGE- normal or ordinary ambient condition CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE- an environment where temperature and humidity is controlled MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE- an environment where gas composition is changed by gas natural depletion oxygen

ULTRA-HERMETIC (UHS) STORAGE It is a sealed storage system based on the generation of an OXYGEN depleted and CARBON DIOXIDE -enriched inter-granular atmosphere by the respiration of the living organisms in the grain bulk. The effectiveness of hermetic storage is hinged on LOW oxygen environment together with ELEVATED carbon dioxide levels.

HOW DOES UHS WORKS?
