Global Warming

What is global warming? Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect.

Unit 6: Global warming Brainstorming Private cars Deforestation

What do you know about these problems? Choose picture and talk about it in 2 minutes!

READING 1. Read the text in page 10 and select the statement that expresses its main ideas. Global warming is mainly caused by humans and has negative impacts on people’s lives

2. Match the words with their meanings catastrophic a. All living creatures and plants in a certain area and the relationships between them 2. famine b. The mixture of gases surrounding the earth 3. absorb c. fact of having many different types of people, animals, plants or things 4. capture d. Take in (gas, liquid, heat) from the space or surface around 5. atmosphere e. Catch and keep somebody/ something in a place 6. ecosystem f. When a lot of people do not have enough food and many die. 7. diversity g. Disastrous

3. Answer the questions Who is mainly responsible for global warming? What happens when coal is burnt to make electricity? How does deforestation contribute to global warming? What could happen to people when sea levels rise? How can high temperatures affect crops? Why is widespread loss of species a matter of great concern for humans?

Who is mainly responsible for global warming? 3. Answer the questions Who is mainly responsible for global warming? What happens when coal is burnt to make electricity? How does deforestation contribute to global warming? What could happen to people when sea levels rise? How can high temperatures affect crops? Why is widespread loss of species a matter of great concern for humans? Humans are It releases a large amount of CO2 into the atmosphere. Deforestation disrupts the process of absorbing and capturing CO2 from the atmosphere, which causes the world’s temperature to rise They could lose their homes. They can reduce crop harvests globally Because humans cannot exists without species diversity on Earth

What is global warming? Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature.

What is the climate change? A long term change in the earth’s weather due to changes in the atmosphere

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE GOT 3 POINTS

What is green house gas? A gas in the atmosphere that traps heat above the earth

I AM SORRY. YOU HAVE LOST 3 POINTS

What is eco system? All living creatures and plants in a certain area and the relationships between them

What is atmosphere? The mixture of gases surrounding the earth.

What does 3R stand for? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE GOT 3 POINTS

Who is mainly responsible for global warming? Human

What happens when coal is burnt to make electricity? It releases a large amount of CO2 into the atmosphere.

List 5 disasters that may be the effects of global warming. Flood, drought, storm, forest fire, infectious disease, famine, extinction of plants and animals

DISCUSSION 1. Which of the effects of global warming do you think is the most serious? 2. What do you think we should do to reduce the risks caused by global warming? Reduce energy use Plant trees or plants Use environmentally friendly means of transport
