NASA Earth Science Education Collaborative at the 2016 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Iowa State University, Ames Iowa During May 26-28, 2016, the 37th annual Odyssey of the Mind World Finals took place in Ames, IA. Over 18,000 elementary-high school level finalists, coaches, chaperones and parents from 800 teams came together from across the United States and 25 other countries for this creative problem solving extravaganza. A team from the NASA Earth Science Education Collaborative –an SMD-funded science education cooperative agreement–participated at this event with Classroom Activities, E-Theater science presentations, and hands-on activities at the Creativity Festival. These unique educational opportunities showcased exciting NASA Earth science and hands-on education activities. Opening ceremonies Kristen Weaver shares ocean color remote sensing activity Classroom Activities were taught using the GLOBE Observer citizen science app and an ocean color remote sensing activity. A total of over 1,300 students (not including adults) participated in at least one of 64 sessions offered. E-Theater science presentations were given and well attended with a total of over 1,500 attending 11 presentations over three days. Erika Podest talks with students after her presentation The Creativity Festival featured an interactive investigation with Landsat image cubes and a spectrometer activity that were seen by thousands.
