Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole school approach to proactive, school wide behaviour management. PBL is a vehicle for establishing a positive school culture. Based on research and evidence based practices, it provides strategies for all students to increase academic performance, improve safety and decrease problem behaviour. At Woy Woy Public School we have developed 5 School wide expectations to support the PBL process. These expectations are Be Proud, Be Co-operative, Be Polite, Be Safe and Be Responsible. It is hoped that the students of Woy Woy Public School we strive to demonstrate these values everyday, both in the classroom and the playground. We explicitly teach the positive behaviour we expect every week and reward the students who have demonstrated positive behaviour with  Win Bin tickets. Student can place their Win Bin tickets into the barrel to enter the weekly prize draw, or they can choose to stockpile their tickets and exchange their accumulated tickets for a reward.

A smooth transition to Big School Moving into Kindergarten is a unique experience in the life of any child, even a child who has been to day care or preschool. In the eyes of most children, Kindergarten is “big school” and entering big school represents a huge step in their development.

Educational programs Current Educational Programs: L3 – Language, Learning & Literacy Language, Learning and Literacy (L3) is a research-based, Kindergarten classroom intervention program targeting text reading and writing. Students receive explicit instruction in reading and writing strategies in small groups of three. Students then rotate to independent individual or group tasks. This occurs each morning in the daily literacy session. TEN – Targeting Early Numeracy The Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) intervention program provides support for students experiencing difficulty in learning numeracy in the early years. TEN will be implemented within a normal daily lesson maths block, without withdrawal or an additional specialist teacher.
