U.S. and Israeli Drone downed in Iranian Cyber Attack On Sunday December 4th the U.S./ Israeli Drone, RQ-170 Sentinel was brought down by an Iranian Cyber Attack. This attack, however, did not damage the stealth drone due to it not being “shot down” but merely controlled to withstand a safe landing causing nearly no damage at all. The RQ-170 loaded with U.S./ Israeli TOP SECRET technology and information, has a Self-Destruct sequence that Iran was somehow able to overcome to their advantage. Even though this is a huge loss in information and technology, the United States does not plan on a ground or air attack to retrieve or destroy the lost RQ-170, Israeli Diplomats say this is due to the fact that an attack on Iran could seem like an act of war. However Israeli Faction wants to make a move on Iran with or without the U.S., stating the Obama administration and Israel seem to have different objectives in defeating Iran’s Nuclear Program. Senior Israeli Diplomat states that by failing to act, the U.S. has left Iran with secrets of Sentinel’s stealth coating, sensors and cameras, and most importantly data stored in computer cells stating targets marked for future U.S. or Israeli attacks. The drone being in near perfect condition causes the U.S. and Israel to make major changes in plans for a potential strike on Iran’s Nuclear Program. Iranian officials reported the drone flying 200 miles from the border of Afghanistan, but moved toward an airbase in Iran. This cyber attack lead to Washington admitting that it may send allied forces located in Iran to recover the stolen drone.
