MGI Europe Strategy: Engagement

Main points brought up during “Open Space” at Mello Reform the meetings Introduce rules of international engagement Introduce MGI Rising Talent meetings Build databases

Some of our thoughts Meetings are the most important means of engaging members in MGI Maybe it’s time to rethink the MGI Meetings? Merging Circles or create new Circles? Cutting Costs? Involvement of more people from each member firm? Is it possible to combine Practice Groups and Meetings? More business oriented Higher involvement More networking Do we need “a meeting about The Meetings”?

Some of our thoughts: Do we need a database of MGI Experts? Which subject areas would be relevant? (Tax, VAT, TP, … ?) How can we build a simple database, which is: Easy to access Easy to keep up to date Tools available on the market?

EEC focus for 2016 A second – low-priced but very business oriented – European Meeting. Building a database of MGI Experts

Why a new kind of European meeting? More and more, members are focused on cost Meetings are expensive and time-consuming 99% (?) of delegates are partners In many cases MGI is not “rooted” within the member firms Member firms do not get the full value of the fee paid The future of international business requires that our employees (not only partners) have “international confidence” Circle meetings are losing their importance as old political and language barriers are broken down Not a Competitor or Substitute for existing meetings

Draft for “One-day European meeting” in the Fall 2016 Location: major European hub airport (ex. Frankfurt) Friday in October or November 2016 Fly in the Morning and back in the Evening No cost for accommodation No external speakers?

Draft for “One-day European meeting” in the Fall 2016 Time Activity Speaker/ Responsible 10.00 – 10.15 Welcome and intro to the day 10.15 – 11.00 Business Opportunities with MGI 11.00 – 11.30 Coffee-break 11.30 – 12.00 How do we work together? 12.00 – 12.30 Sharing Knowledge and Practice Groups 12.30 – 13.30 Lunch 13.30 – 15.00 Conversation/discussions in “Open Space Groups”: Tax VAT TP HR Audit Management Etc. 15.00 – 15.30 15.30 – 16.00 Closing remarks

Why a new database? Easy access to the right people with the right qualifications It’s other members that make you an expert – not yourself (Skills & Endorsements – like Linkedin?) Is it relevant when in some countries there are only one or two member firms?

Ideas for a new database Simple tool like LinkedIn? To be used on the phone (An app?)

Next Steps Debate at the EAM Debate and conclusion in the ECC ?
