POUS Scissors, Tape, Tags Christmas wrap Point Of Use Storage sez: Put the tools aka: scissors, tape, and tags right in with the Christmas wrap bin !! (AND LEAVE THEM THERE !!) A little discipline may be required…

Quality at Source Watch, Wallet, Badge, Car Keys, Chap stick, Checkbook, Calculator, Matches, Coins and Marbles! Guys – ever loose your keys ?? Or your badge ?? Or your marbles?? Designate one “snake pit” drawer and set-up your Kanban system…

Quick Changeover Now back to that bin “system”… Here’s the “KATA” on this: The decorating is done one bin at a time… each bin is a location, and we do one location a night. Less frustrating, faster, easier, and yes even safer…

Pull / Kanban Garage paper storage Kitchen items Sealed or Double Wrapped This double Kanban system works well to buy things on sale. Also, DON’T label where the extra lightbulbs go, the adult children will “Borrow” them as needed…

Cellular / Flow The pantry and hall closet serve as Kanban as well… The pill box is as visual reminder for taking our vitamins each day. And … it has its’ own “KATA”

TPM Auto schedules / house painting A/C, Water Heater Pool pump, etc I have a couple mechanical / machines for maintenance activities. Cars have the maintenance records on clipboard hanging on the garage wall, the A/C and water heater service dates are marked on the kitchen (KAIZEN) calendar… and the pool pump filters get inspected and washed once a year when I change the furnace filters (bought on sale and stored in their “Kanban” location). I also put in new “O-ring” in pool filter – cheaper than repairing damage from a water leak. HOUSE PAINTING – Inside - I put the date (year) I painted that particular room in the closet – above the door. Outside – I write the year above the garage door on the inside of course.

Live Long(er) and Prosper! 83 76 Well, there you have it – some crazy and hopefully logical ideas to make life a little easier. Now spend less time on those and more time at the beach with your favorite captain!!
