Introduction to TRANSPLANT APP

Introduction Audience: patients and their families Aim: to provide clear and interpretable graphics showing what would happen to 100 people like me to fully inform patients on the risks involved initially liver patients only but with intention to roll out to other organs

Cohort of data Provided by ODT stats Patient cohort: Elective patients registered for a liver only transplant in the UK Period: 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2011 to enable 5 year outcomes to be presented

Disease and UKELD based patient outcomes

Options of diseases to select

Example A Hepatitis C Patient with a UKELD score of 55 What will happen to 100 people like me post-registration

Results differ by disease group and UKELD score (<55, 55+) Example A Hepatitis C Patient with a UKELD score of 55 What will happen to 100 people like me post-registration

Results differ by disease group and UKELD score (<55, 55+) Example A Hepatitis C Patient with a UKELD score of 55 What will happen to 100 people like me post-registration

Liver transplant outcomes

Outcome What is likely to happen to me after I have a transplant?

Graft failure What can cause graft failure for those who are re-transplanted?

Cause of death What can cause a person to die after a transplant?

What are the risks associated with different types of organ donor?

Donor type Example

Donor transmitted disease Of 1000 patients how many develop a transmitted disease The estimates are taken from published papers

High risk donors Example Other high risk donors
