Chapter 13 Review

#1. What is the limit placed on the President by the 22nd Amendment? Two Term limit or a total of 10 years in office.

#2. What are the two routes that can be taken to become President? First- Elected by the electoral college Second- Presidential succession

#3. Describe and explain the significance of the Watergate scandal. There was a break-in at the DNC office in 1972. Did Nixon know or cover it up? Led to his resignation and increased mistrust of government.

#4. What is the purpose of the 25th Amendment Decides Presidential succession and disability It also determines how to replace the Vice President if it is vacated.

#16. What was the purpose of the War Powers Resolution #16. What was the purpose of the War Powers Resolution? Has it been effective? It was designed to limit the power of the President to send troops overseas. It has not been tested yet. Is it a LEGISLATIVE VETO?

#17. What was unusual about the tax cut that Ronald Reagan pushed for in 1981? When Congress wouldn’t agree, he went on TV and asked for citizens support. He got it and Congress caved.
