What is a still life? A still life is a collection of inanimate objects organized into a unified composition What does composition mean? Composition refers to how an artist chooses to organize or “frame” a drawing. It is how the artist chooses to fill the space on the drawing paper. What is a thumbnail sketch? A thumbnail sketch is a drawing that an artist does to help plan out his or her composition.
