ELECTROMAGNETIC BRAKING Disc is rotating in the magnetic field Eddy cureent will be produced in the Disc Eddy current induced in disc will produce a torque. produced torque in disc opposes actual rotation of disc.

WORKING PRINCIPLE . When the electric power is supply to the motor it will be rotating based upon the accelerator to required speed the motor can be rotate the shaft for using the one rope from the motor to the pulley. The pulley can be set to the shaft. Depending upon the motor speed the shaft can be rotate. The disc can be set the center now we ready to stop the disc the disc can be set to the center of the shaft. The rotating shaft can be stop using the electromagnet. The electromagnet can be working on the supply of battery power. The electromagnet works only the supply of the battery voltage that voltage is 24 voltage capacity battery. The supply of the power to the motor and shaft it will be rotating shaft can be stop using the electromagnet .The electromagnet can be applied to stop using the one switch type It will be work only on the switch is in on position the magnet can act like the electromagnet. In case the switch is in off position the magnet cannot be work like electromagnet.

ADVANTAGES No friction loss Less heat loss Less wear of components Fully electromagnetically controlled Great braking efficiency potential to regain energy lost in braking No need to change brake oils regularly No oil leakage Problem of brake fluid vaporization and freezing is eliminated Less maintenance cost Longer life span compare to other brakes

DISADVANTAGES Failure to act as a holding device Usage of electric power for braking Less effective under very low velocities

APPLICATIONS Copy machines Conveyor drives Packaging machinery Printing machinery Food processing machinery Factory automation Used in some railway system

CONCLUSION Electromagnetic braking system is superior to conventional frictional braking as there is no any friction and heat in electromagnetic braking system. The combination of eddy current and magnetic forces makes this brake more effective. This brake can be used as auxiliary brake system in vehicle
