Indian Health Care Improvement Act September 30, 1976 SEC. 501. (25 U.S.C. 1651) The purpose of this title is to establish programs in urban centers to make health services more accessible to urban Indians. Authorized $10,000 in FY 1979

Urban Indian Health Programs Today Urban Indian Health Program FY 2015 Budget: $43.6 million. 33 UIHPs provided services to 126,310 patients including 53,408 AI/AN. UIHPs employ over 1,604 FTEs. UIHPs performed 529,983 visits including medical, dental, behavioral health, other professional, and enabling services directly or by paid referral.
