Coca-Cola: The Company The Coca-Cola Company is the world's biggest drinks company, controlling more than half the global market in carbonated soft drinks as well as a substantial chunk of the somewhat larger non-carbonated segment. It owns four of the world's five best-selling soft drinks. The Coca-Cola Company markets, distributes and sells more than 500 non-alcoholic beverage brands ranging from Diet Coke, Fanta and Sprite to a vast range of carbonated and non-carbonated juice-based drinks, bottled waters, iced teas and coffees. The Coca-Cola Company was founded on January 29, 1892. The Coca- Cola Co. found initial success and was made famous by the soft drink for which the company is named, Coca-Cola itself.

Coca-Cola: The Soft Drink The drink was invented in May 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia by Dr. John S Pemberton. It was conceived as a nerve tonic and Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, suggested the name, and it was he who penned the flowing script that is still the drink's logo. Coca-Cola is the most popular and biggest-selling soft drink in history, as well as one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Coca-Cola was patented in 1887, registered as a trademark in 1893 and by 1895 it was being sold in every state and territory in the United States. In 1906, bottling operations for Coca-Cola began to expand internationally.

Competition Pepsi is the Coca-Cola Co.’s main competitor. There are many other companies – i.e. Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc. - that would love to replace Coca-Cola, but Pepsi is the only real threat. However many of Coca-Cola’s own beverages compete for popularity with the original Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola Zero, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Life are rising in reputation due to their less calories and the public’s want to be healthier.

Objective My objective is to get Coca-Cola soft drink up to 2.5 billion sales each day by 2020. Currently, we get about 1.9 billion sales every day. I know we can do even better. There are now only two countries in the world where Coca-Cola cannot be bought or sold - at least, not officially. They are Cuba and North Korea, which are both under long-term US trade embargoes. President Obama has visited Cuba and spoke to Cuban President Raúl Castro, the trade embargo will end soon. My goal is for Coca-Cola to be there, ready to sell, when the 50-year trade embargo ends. In a list of the average per capita consumption of Coca-Cola in several countries, China (38) and India (12) are the bottom of the list. We must expand our sales in these countries.

Target Group Our target group is often everyone. However, now our target group is made with more regard to: Cuba China India

Cost The cost of a Coca-Cola soft drink can internationally averages at about $2.65 (USD). The cost of a Coca-Cola soft drink in a bottled form internationally averages at about $1.39 (USD).

An Advertising Budget that’s Key for Growth Coca-Cola Co. is seeing sales rise for the first time in more than a decade, thanks to its personalized bottle campaign, Share a Coke. Coca-Cola CEO pledged to increase media spending and brand- building initiatives by up another $1 billion by 2016. Coca-Cola spends $565 million on advertising domestically, according to Ad Age Datacenter. The current advertising budget for the Coca- Cola company internationally is about $3.9 billion. The Coca-Cola soft drink has made a yearly commitment to large ad spends, spending a total $3.499 billion in 2014 and $3.342 billion in 2012. This represents more than 80 percent of the company’s spending on marketing in general.

Environmental Impact The Coca-Cola company has been studying its impact on the environmental community for decades. In 1969 the company launched its first study that examined the environmental impact of its products, and since then, Coca- Cola has continuously investigated the most cost-effective and efficient ways to reduce its environmental impact. The company currently measures and minimizes its environmental impact in several areas. The main three ways they are helping to save the world are: Water usage in the manufacturing process Minimal packaging Refrigeration and energy efficiency

Time Line Coca Cola is great anytime! Whether it’s the middle of winter or the hottest day of the year, Coca-Cola is refreshing. Try our tried and true drink: Coca-Cola!
