We can have a family gathering. We enjoy a big meal together. We eat moon cakes as disserts. We have a conversation together. [ˈgæðərɪŋ] [mi:l] [dɪ'sɜ:t] [ˌkɒnvəˈseɪʃn]

Thanksgiving Day is a traditional American fesitval, which started in 1621. In the U.S. the fourth Thurday of the November each year is the Thanksgiving Day!

In 1620, a boat filled with more than one hundred people sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to settle in the New World(新大陆). Their first winter in the New World was difficult. The following spring the Indians taught them how to grow corns and other crops, and how to hunt and fish. In the autumn of 1621, the people had a harvest. So a party was planned to show thanks. They invited the local Indians. In following years, many of the original colonists celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks.

Canada celebrate Thanksgiving a month earlier because autumn season starts early in Canada than in America. "Thanks"

Family reunion and feasting (宴会) Family feast is an important tradition during Thanksgiving. It is a time for relatives who live in different places to get together and celebrate. The entire family sits at the table during dinner and offer prayer to the God for his grace.

In addition, people at the table can also eat apples, orange, chestnut (栗子), walnuts (核桃) , and grape, as well as meat pie, and so on.
