Instructors: Generally say 100-200 words a minute Students only hear 50-100 words a minute Are attentive 40% of the time Retain about 70% of what they hear in the first 10 minutes of class Retain 20 percent during the last 10 minutes of class

Methods of Learning/ Average amount of information retained Lecture = 5% Reading = 10% Audiovisual = 20% Demonstration = 30% Discussion Group = 50% Practice by doing = 75% Teach others/immediate use of learning = 90%

Mentally involved Engaged in hands-on activities Involved in a process of inquiry, discovery, investigation and interpretation Undertake inquiries and solve problems and apply what they have learned Students learn best when learning is active!

Real-Life skills for students Punctuality Students must keep up with various due dates. Independent work makes them responsible. Computer Program Learning software promotes an acquaintance with computers and new technology. It gives confidence to students as they become more tech-savvy. They learn computer skills for the real-world.
