RAFU MOJ – update on activities A2J March-September 2016 Amendments to the Draft Law on Free Legal Aid Analysis of the court fee waiver system finalized including: Comparative analysis on fee waivers in court proceedings Serbian normative framework vs. states in the region Key issues in current practice Recommendations for system improvement At the request of MOJ, the analysis also involves financial aspects (comparison of level of fees in Serbia & states in the region) Presentation of the Analysis performed – a need for combination of the effects of FLA & Fee waivers – impact on citizens with most vulnerable socio-economic status Comprehensive analysis on inclusion of stronger procedural safeguards, access to lawyer, victim support started in 2015 –in progress

RAFU MOJ – Planned Training/Workshops Workshop on European standards regarding judicial experts and expertise (December 2016) Multilateral training sessions – addressing identified challenges in reporting on implementation of the Action Plan for the Chapter 23 (by December 2016) On-the-job training– support to relevant departments at the Ministry of Justice in the process of implementation of the Action Plan for the Chapter 23 On-the-job training– support to the Office for Human and Minority Rights in the process of monitoring the AP Exercise of the Rights of National Minorities
