February 2013 Updates: Celebrating Purim!

The girls were very excited about Purim and were involved in all the holiday preparations. They decided to dress up as clowns this year and Hahgoot suggested they practice putting on makeup.

After some creative attempts Hahgoot came up with a very nice clown make up design.

Then she did the same design for Alma.

If they had clown make up on, it meant only one thing: time to put on a clowns show!

They made a funny slapsticks show for me

Alma the stylish clown

The girls did some Purim craft together: They scratched masks to reveal the coloured layers underneath. This is a lovely craft set we got last year from our friend Sarit.

The girls made Hamantaschen (traditional triangular Purim cookies)

All well that ends yummy! It was a wild cooking session, as I was constantly trying to encourage Hahgoot to participate (she was very negative that day) and at the same time trying to slow Alma down as she was attempting to do everything herself and flattened all the triangles in the process... All well that ends yummy!

We got a lovely Mishloach Manot from the Northridge sisters (Emma and Deena) with yummy homemade Hamantaschen and very funny lollies – very creative parcel!

Hahgoot made some Mishlochei Manot (Purim parcels of candy, cookies and gifts for kids) for her two best friends at school (with a note explaining) and some to send to friends locally and in Israel (and for her cousin in Boston). Purim preparation is a lot of work...

At last, the day of the Purim party arrived! The girls made Mishlochei Manot, got dressed in their funny costumes (they enjoyed choosing mismatching clothes!) and put on the make up.

The party this year was in Miranda, at Gali and Niv’s house The party this year was in Miranda, at Gali and Niv’s house. Koren was a “Cars” fan and sweet Lidan (nearly one year old) was Donald Duck.

I brought face paints and did some work on Koren’s face I brought face paints and did some work on Koren’s face. Hahgoot worked on the other guests... The other nice friends were non-Jewish but highly enthusiastic about the holiday and brought huge Mishlochei Manot!

In our next presentation: In the photo you can see the visiting frog from Koren’s day care, which spends a weekend with each child. In our next presentation: Hahgoot’s updates!
