Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis Genre: (Hysterical) Historical Fiction This book won the Newbery Medal (given to books for the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature) The story centers around a young orphan who sets off to find his family during the great depression Bud lives by rules…what rules do you live by? Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume Genre: Realistic Fiction/Humor This is the first in a series of 5 books by the author, who has written over 20 books that have received over 90 awards Do any of you have siblings? How do you feel about them? Peter is our main character but his little brother Farley Drexel Hatcher (aka Fudge) steals the show in this hilarious book about the trouble younger siblings can cause… Fudge: eats his mother’s flowers, goes on a hunger strike, thinks he is a birdie and can fly, paints restaurant walls with mashed potatoes….the list is endless! If you like funny stories about trouble-making toddlers and the older brother that has to put up with them, then this is a great choice…and the other books in the series are equally as funny
