Second Grade News March 25, 2016 Thanks to all the families who helped make our Family Literacy Night a big success. We hope you had fun! Reading… This week our essential question was, “How do you express yourself?” We read stories about how people express themselves through music. We asked and answered questions and found the main idea and details of the text. Math… We have been practicing different ways to add two digit numbers by solving one and two step word problems. We are using models like drawings, quick draw place value, bar diagrams, and equations. Mark Your Calendar… March 29th… Speical Person Lunch March 30th -31st…Parent Conferences /Half Day March 28th- April 1st…Book FairApril 1st…Half Day April 4th-8th …Spring Vacation April 13th…Wacky Wednesday/ Early Release April 19th…Parade of Stars Writing… We continue to work on our “How To…” papers. Several students have finished and are working on other stories. Social Studies/Science… We learned more about Asia, specifically the countries of China and Japan.
