IATA/ATDI Senior Civil Aviation Management Course 7 June 2001 COSCAP-OBJECTIVE Enhance the safety and efficiency of air transport through the establishment of a self-sustaining sub-regional entity providing technical services in safety oversight to the member States Initially the focus was on technical cooperation in the areas of Flight Operations and Airworthiness but this has been extended to Aerodromes and ATM ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme 2

IATA/ATDI Senior Civil Aviation Management Course 7 June 2001 CONCLUSION While the benefits of a regional co-operative approach have been clearly demonstrated, inter-programme co-operation will also provide benefits COSCAPs develop considerable material which is shared between programmes COSCAP experts and expertise are also shared between COSCAPs Donors support programmes where the benefits can be realised by maximum number of States ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme 2
IATA/ATDI Senior Civil Aviation Management Course 7 June 2001 CONCLUSION COSCAP mechanism has proven to be cost-effective Harmonization of flight safety regulations and procedures is continuing Donor support and resource sharing permit COSCAPs to meet most of the training requirements of Member States/Administrations Availability of technical support for the implementation of SARPs ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme 2
