Driving Future Fleet Management Conference Michael Kilgariff, Managing Director, Australian Logistics Council 20 September 2016

Australia’s freight logistics industry Technology - a critical enabler to improving the efficiency and safety of Australia’s logistics industry 1% improvement in supply chain efficiency = $2 billion boost to the economy

Using Technology to Improve Supply Chain visibility

Using Technology to Improve Heavy Vehicle Safety Devices such as MTData’s Talon table can track location, speed, fatigue etc ALC is lobbying for the mandatory roll out of this technology across the heavy vehicle fleet

ALC supports Heavy Vehicle Investment Reform Australian governments need to consider a broader system of transport pricing It is critical that the funds collected are invested in the infrastructure used by the vehicle The revenue must follow the freight

Now Is the Time to Get the Supply Chain Right Australian Logistics Council Chairman Ian Murray AM being interviewed for ALC’s new video Now is the Time to Get the Supply Chain Right

National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy A ‘white paper’ for the logistics industry, to be developed by Infrastructure Australia, that should: map nationally significant supply chains evaluate the adequacy of the institutional frameworks identify the key bodies overseeing their efficient operation; and recommend reforms and investments to enable the more efficient movement of freight.

Protecting our Infrastructure Assets Containerised freight at Port Botany is predicted to triple between now and 2045. It is critical that the port, and its industrial precincts, are protected from urban encroachment

Conclusion Supply chain efficiency matters to all Australians Without an efficient and effective supply chain, all those things people take for granted every day will be less available, and when it is, it will be more costly. Effective fleet management is an integral component of this.
