TIME Grant Background Training Individuals for Manufacturing Employment WOW Workforce Development Board partnered with Manufacturers to identify industry job demands (2010) $4.9 million U.S. Department of Labor H-1B Grant sought and awarded to provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) support to manufacturers (2011) 560 employees to receive the skills and competencies needed to retain high-skill, high-demand jobs in manufacturing through OJT (2012 - 2015)

Benefits of On-the-Job Training Training Individuals for Manufacturing Employment OJT reimburses employers who hire eligible job seekers that require additional training Length of the training and wage reimbursement is based on the complexity of the job and the amount of training Reimbursement Rates: 50 or less employees = 90% of wages 51 – 250 employees = 75% of wages 251 or more employees = 50% of wages

TIME Grant Requirements Training Individuals for Manufacturing Employment Companies: Offer a minimum starting wage of $13.25/hour Develop OJT Training Plan and provide training as outlined in the plan Hire the trainee as a direct, full-time employee Sign an OJT contract PRIOR to employee’s start date Participants: 18 years of age or older Received a High School diploma, HSED or GED Currently unemployed or underemployed as determined by WOW WDI Received some manufacturing experience or education Require specific skills training

TIME Grant Process STEP 1: Identify Possible Trainee Training Individuals for Manufacturing Employment STEP 1: Identify Possible Trainee STEP 2: Develop Training Plan STEP 3: Sign OJT Contract STEP 4: Start Training STEP 5: Hold Mid-Point Monitoring STEP 6: Complete Training & Receive Reimbursement
