Things We’ve Uncovered… Giving Feedback to Students Sends a Growth Mindset (it is also a Best Instructional Practice) If Students from Poverty Have a Growth Mindset it Can Off-set the Effects of Living in Poverty Conclusion: GIVING GOOD FEEDBACK IS THE MOST CRITICAL OF OUR TOPICS THIS YEAR, BECAUSE IT IMPACTS ALL OF THE OTHERS

Review of Giving Students Feedback (November Faculty Meeting)… Do not put a grade on it, as soon as students see a grade that is what they are fixated on and their effort or attitude to improve or believe they need to improve is now altered Descriptive, but don’t fix it for them Require students to make the changes, as if they don’t they won’t apply your feedback and it’s lost Give small and realistic changes at a time – don’t tackle everything at once

Giving Students Feedback 4 Best Practices of Giving Feedback

Time to Reflect… How often do you give students feedback? Do you follow the best practices of giving feedback? Can you give feedback more often? Is there anything you can do differently to enhance the feedback you give?
