Revision & Learning.

Why is revision important? As the basketball players show us, even thinking about their work can improve performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2O6mQkFiiw

Does my son study best alone or with peers? WHO? Does my son study best alone or with peers? Your Son’s Role Year 13 are expected to be… Mature Students? Independent? Organised? Knowledgeable about their own learning style? Self Motivated? Our Roles Know the learner. Support with Organisation

When should my son be revising? Routines help with organisation. Being organised helps us stick to routines.

Where does my son revise best? At Home / At School? Study Periods. Designated Zones? Comfortable & Convenient!

What does my son do when revising? How does my son learn best? Skills vs. Knowledge. Notes (don’t over kill it – one A4 “Cornell method” per sub topic is enough) Just include the key concepts, your brain will reconstruct the details. I can give you a template if you like. Past papers! Save time on longer questions by writing a plan, or parts, not the full essay Focus on your weaker areas, read the model answers first then try to write your own. Do this in timed conditions (you can all do a perfect essay with unlimited time) Reviewing is more important than doing! Revision Guides and Flash Cards Make your own! Youtube, Pod Casts and Interactive Resources. Ask subject teachers for best online resources. Make your own podcasts with Microsoft word.
