Student info needed Please complete the “Google Form.” Some computers are available now for you to do this at your convenience. Google form includes your contact info, things we should know about your child, parent volunteering opportunities, etc.

About Mrs. Jackson 7th year at Discovery Married for 6 years Has an almost 2 year old! Max Westmont College

About Mrs. Swenson 11th year at Discovery Married 2 years Has a 1 year old (Avery) Northern Michigan University Loves volleyball and nutrition!

Job Share Info Mrs. Swenson is Monday and Tuesday Mrs. Jackson is Thursday and Friday Wednesdays will alternate by the month.

Daily Schedule 8:45 – 9:00 – Math Warm-up/ELD/Silent Reading 9:00 –10:00 – “Wheel Time” (PE/Library/Music) None on W 10:00 – 11:00 – Word Work/Language Arts 11:00 – 11:20 - Recess 11:20 – 1:00 – Reading Groups/Writing 1:00 – 1:45 – Lunch 1:45 – 3:10 – Math and Clean Up

Homework ***School-wide NO HOMEWORK policy this year!*** We ask that you have your child read EVERY NIGHT. For supplemental activities at home: Online programs (Lexia, Dreambox, TenMarks, etc.)

Support Classes Library – 9:15 – 10:00 am Thursday PE – Tuesday/Friday 9:00 -10:00 am Music – 9:15 – 10:00 am Monday Nothing on W

Behavior Positive reinforcement and praise! Card chart – tickets for positive behavior; student store to redeem tickets Team points – team with most points earns extra tickets Marble jar – class decides what they want to do!

Consequences 1 verbal warning 2nd offense – turn card Potential loss of recess and/or lunch time Severe = phone call home Students receive tickets if they’re on green or blue at the end of the day.

Water bottles Please allow your student to have a water bottle, as it cuts down on the “traffic” by the water fountain. Water is also great to have on PE days! ONLY water is allowed – no juice, soda, etc.

Wednesday Every Wednesday is a shorter day. Students get out at 2:10!

Misc. Grading – 4, 3, 2, 1 November 14- all day parent teacher conferences! (afternoons the rest of the week) Website – lots of helpful information about our classroom. Birthdays – wellness policy – no food (can do pencils/erasers, etc.)
