Welcome to: Algebra 2/Trig Mrs. Lori Marano Room 311 Welcome to: Algebra 2/Trig

My Background BA in Mathematics from Duquesne University (from Pittsburgh) Masters in Mathematics Education from Arcadia University Taught Math at Tamanend for 20 years – Veteran Teacher 9th Grade Team Leader Married with 3 kids

Math With Mrs. Marano Homework and Grading: Homework will be assigned daily. It is a way to practice the skills required for mastery and to prepare for assessments. It is understood that students will struggle at times completing homework. Homework is checked for completion and effort, not accuracy. Homework and other graded class work will count for 10% of each marking period grade and will appear in the grade book as Formative Assessments. Tests, quizzes and other assessments will be weighted as 90% of each marking period grade and will appear in the grade book as Summative Assessments. Student's 4 marking period grades (80%) plus the 5th marking period, which is the midterm, final and 2 core assessments (20%) will determine their final grade for the year.

Math With Mrs. Marano Absences: If you are absent, you will be expected to make-up any work missed when you return to school. Please check my teacher site for missed work that may be able to be completed at home.

Math With Mrs. Marano Extra Help: If extra help is needed, I am available before and after school and during resource. Help at home: Refer to the textbook for helpful hints when completing problems. Always have notes handy! Check out the cbsd.org Secondary Mathematics web page for links to helpful math tutor sites. Technology is your friend. There are so many great sites offering math help. www.khanacademy has a lesson and video tutorial for every Algebra concept!

Math With Mrs. Marano Calculators: We will be using the   We will be using the TI 84 Graphing Calculators throughout the school year. We do have a class set to use while in the classroom, but it is recommended that you purchase one. This is a high school investment.
