Conclusion: Coral Reef

Sample 1 As you can see, coral reefs provide many notable benefits to the world that many people do not even know about. Coral reefs house millions of unique aquatic species, they protect the oceans, its inhabitants provide nutrition and money for humans, and they are beautiful for tourists to come and see. With this knowledge, people must find a way to protect these amazing structures from damage because they are something we simply cannot lose.

Comments on Sample 1 The response provides an adequate conclusion that follows from and supports the preceding information in the body of writing as a whole (...provide many notable benefits to the world that many people do not even know about). The response does more than restate the points/reasons--not formulaic (Coral reefs house millions of unique aquatic species...protect the oceans...provide nutrition and money for humans...beautiful for tourists...). These points/reasons build on each other well. The response provides adequate connection of ideas to contribute to coherence (With this knowledge, people must find a way to protect these amazing structure...something we simply cannot lose). This last connections wraps up the conclusion nicely.

Sample 2 Coral reefs are very important to the planet since some fish use these as shelters and food they are connected to the food chain that gets to us humans these coral reefs are important to sea creatures.

Comments on Sample 2 The response provides a limited conclusion that is partially related to the information in the body of writing as a whole (coral reefs are very important to the planet since some fish use these as shelters and food). This sentence indicates the conclusion has started and combines that transition with the points/reasons. The response lists points/reasons--formulaic (...use these as shelters and food...connected to the food chain...important to sea creatures). The response provides a partial connection of ideas (...that gets to us humans these coral reefs...).

Sample 3 As one can see, coral reefs are vital for aquatic ecosystems. They help other animals by providing shelter, and they have improve water quality and help tourism. Coral reefs must be protected.

Comments on Sample 3 The response provides a limited conclusion that is partially related to the information in the body of writing as a whole (...coral reefs are vital for aquatic ecosystems). The response lists points/reasons--formulaic (They help other animals...shelter...improve water quality...help tourism). The response provides a partial connection of ideas (Coral reefs must be protected). The entire conclusion is minimal.

Sample 4 Coral reefs can be dangerous while your hunting for the sea creatures. they can be dangerous because you can cut yourself on the coral. if I were to go looking for sea creatures I would bring tough clothing and gloves so I don’t get hurt and have to go to a hospital.

Comments on Sample 4 The response provides no conclusion (coral reefs can be dangerous while your hunting for the sea creatures...). This information read as though it could be from a body paragraph. The response may restate incorrect details from the preceding information (...you can cut yourself on the coral...if I were to go looking for sea creatures I would bring tough clothing and gloves so I don’t get hurt and have to go to a hospital). This information is not found in the body paragraphs. The response provides no connection of ideas.
