Why do we want to do this? Changing climate in education Want to be in the driving seat for change To work collaboratively and share best practice Need to protect our small community schools To ensure 6th form provision is secure in the local area To build financial security in a world of decreasing budgets To develop alternative provisions
What do we already do as a MAT? Shared staff training Joint monitoring across schools of teaching and learning – best practice shared Weekly meetings with school leaders ensures shared expertise and raised expectations Local Governors meet half termly and have shared opportunities for training Pupil events, e.g. refugee day, sports fixtures, gifted and talented, residentials Provide community resources e.g. gym facilities at Ashmoor and South Brent Provide support to schools in difficulty beyond our academy Back office structures enable some savings to be made financially
What else could we do as a larger MAT? Train our own high quality teachers which would help with the current recruitment crisis Merge back office services to get better value for money, thus putting more money back into the classrooms Provide a broader range of study options for A level students Strengthen leadership capacity to ensure no school fails and all children get fair access to high quality education
What else could we do as a larger MAT? Share our range of community links/resources to provide children with additional extra curricular opportunities e.g. forest schools, sports provision, creative arts Joint development of educational initiatives such as assessment without levels Ability to employ staff with high levels of expertise across the trust e.g. finance, premises, grant funding etc.
What would stay the same? Individual identity of each school within their local community The links schools have already established in their local group Leadership within our schools Local Governing Bodies Our ethos of ensuring that all children have access to a high quality education within their local community
Any questions?
