Plot Autumn turned to winter Pg.70 “Coldest weather since 1885” Atticus Pg.70 Mrs. Radley dies Pg.70 It starts to snow and Jem and Scout have never seen snow before. Mr. Avery blames Scout and Jem for the cold weather. Jem and Scout build a snowman resembling Mr. Avery. Pg.73 Mrs. Maudies house burns down Pg.76 Mr. Avery gets stuck in the burning window Pg.77 Boo Radley puts Blanket on Scout Pg.79 These events create the scene of Maycomb in a climate change and introduces some more information about characters and show new characters like Boo Radley’s Personality and Mr Avery.

Characters Mr Avery -Dislikes children. “Its bad children like you that make the weather change.” Pg.72 -Brief description: ”Shaped like a woman” Pg.74 Mrs Stephanie Crawford -Brief description: ”fat in the middle and little-bitty arms” Pg.74 Mrs Maudie -Lost some of her belongings in the fire -Says she will be fine.

Themes Symbolism: The snowman being black and white. Foreshadow: The snowflakes burn. Main Theme=Change: The change in weather and the house burning down. These themes show how the book’s storyline is developing into the racial discrimination that was apparent in those times.

Setting Finch’s street Finch’s house Maudie’s house This positions the reader to see Maycomb as a small country town with dirt roads.
