NTTS 2017 SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Multi – mode data collection Statistical Office of Montenegro The Statistical Office of Montenegro (MONSTAT) is an independent administration body MONSTAT is main coordinator of the statistical system of Montenegro, main holder and disseminator of statistical data, as well as responsible professional body, organizer, and coordinator of official statistics system, and it shall represent the official statistics of Montenegro in the international statistical system. The Development Strategy of Official Statistics 2014 – 2018 defines strategic goals. Modernization of official statistics data collecting CAWI (Computer-assisted web interviewing) CAPI (Computer-assisted personal interviewing) CATI (Computer-assisted telephone interviewing) 2. The increase in use of administrative data for statistical purposes Using administrative databases / registers Integration and standardization of statistical processes Development of statistical databases that allow multidimensional analysis www.monstat.org

Number of questionnaires collected by CAWI method, by municipalities NTTS 2017 SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Multi – mode data collection Statistical Office of Montenegro September 2015 - a training for Data Collection Department staff members was held. After the training, their tasks were to make a direct contact (face-to-face) with reporting units and introduce them with new methods for data collection, and in this manner to increase the response rate until the end of 2015. NTTS 2017 SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Multi – mode data collection Statistical office of Montenegro June 2016 – The data collection by CAWI method for Survey on arrivals and overnight stays of tourists started. August 2016 Municipality Response Bar 2 Budva 32 Danilovgrad 1 Žabljak Kotor 3 Tivat Podgorica 9 Ulcinj Herceg Novi 4 Cetinje Total 60 Sample size for this survey is 350 units, and we obtained 60 reports. After two months of using the CAWI method, the response rate was 17.14%. www.monstat.org

NTTS 2017 SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Multi – mode data collection Statistical Office of Montenegro CAPI method December 2015 – The data collected for annual survey ‘Livestock production’ by laptop (CAPI method) only in two municipalities. In 2016 laptops were used for all Montenegro for the data collection for Survey ICT. In the data collection process there were 19 interviewers. The application for these two surveys was developed in BLASE. www.monstat.org

Introduction of CATI method needs to have space, call center, hardware, and software. Statistical Office of Montenegro has already conducted certain activities in that direction. Advantages for using CATI method for data collection are: Implementation of a large number of interviews in a short period of time, Lower costs of survey, Simultaneous input and control data, Control of interviewer. www.monstat.org

NTTS 2017 SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE Multi – mode data collection Statistical Office of Montenegro Administrative data Statistical Office of Montenego is using increasingly administrative data sources. In a period of eight years, there were signed 17 agreements on cooperation with the institutions from different statistical areas. In 2016 Statistical Office has conducted 160 surveys, of which 20 used the administrative source. This represents 12.5%. www.monstat.org
