Fall 2015 SWOT analysis (August) See statements on next slide Strategic Planning and Budget Committee (SPBC) began work on strategic plan (September) Identified 5 focus areas Faculty and staff received an email update on the strategic planning process and link to Survey (October) Results of survey (October) VISION: 88% Strongly agree or agree COMMUNICATE: 87% Strongly agree or agree ENGAGE: 87% Strongly agree or agree DIVERSITY: 83% Strongly agree or agree GLOBAL: 92% Strongly agree or agree SPBC began drafting Strategic Plan (November) Results of 44 respondents Asked to identify if they Strongly Agree – Strongly Disagree with Focus Area

Spring 2016 Strategic Plan adopted (February) Survey to faculty (February) 48% were unaware SPBC’s work on this plan 75% felt their ideas were valued and captured at fall forum 92% felt the strategic plan adequately captured values of the College Dean Heyning met with Deans Advisory Board to reveal and discuss strategic priorities (March) Positive response from board members Expressed an interest in continued involvement Encouraged more student input 43 respondents

Priority 2016-17 CREATE VISION Adopt a vision statement that reflects our mission Actions: 1) Working group meets to brainstorm statements (in-progress) 2) Vote on vision statement during spring forum Outcomes: 1) Vision statement adopted by COEPS by Spring 17 COMMUNICATE VALUE Identify and evaluate current practices and policies related to communicating value 1) Working groups meet at Fall forum to discuss current practices 2) Meet with Director of MMR (Sara Kuhl) to discuss her ideas for marketing in the COEPS 1) Notes from fall forum reviewed at SPBC, created objective to create a map of populations we want to communicate with and start action plan to initiate those communications (completed) 2) Recommendations from Director of MMR (completed) ENGAGE PARTNERS Identify existing partners and evaluate the status of those relationships. Action: 1) Create list of existing partnerships (in-progress) 2) Once list is completed, classify status of those partnerships 1) List of partners 2) Classification completed INCREASE DIVERSITY Create a shared understanding of diversity, and the value in supporting students, staff, and faculty. 1) Commit COEPS resources to enact practices supporting recruiting and maintaining diverse students, staff, and faculty 2) Create a definition of diversity 1) Create Diversity Coordinator position (completed) 2) Provide time during spring forum to work toward adopting a definition of diversity PREPARE GLOBALLY Engage in College-wide conversations on why preparing our students for a changing and complex global reality is important.

Next Steps Continue to work on strategic priority action items Encourage existing committees and programs to incorporate action items into their work Invite individual departments to reflect on strategic priorities when creating annual goals
