B2W in Bulgaria – main aspects in a glimpse Campaigns - May Campaign 900 part. - B2W Non-stop Campaign. 2300 part. Main Concept – measure the number of consecutive days cycling to work Media Coverage - Selection of individual cycling stories and promoting them via different media channels. Main message – “You are the cycling star, tell your story” Certification of CFE Annual award “Cycling Friendly Employer”. B2W May Campaign in Plovdiv, Sofia, Varna, Burgas 900 participants, 20% new cyclists .

B2W Non-stop Campaign Opening the first Cycling counting station and Bike Service stations at each bike sharing spot in Burgas during Mobility Week 2016. Total Participants in Bulgaria – 3800 (including 300 new cyclists)

B2W Non-stop Campaign Taking part in numerous cycling and MTB competitions to attract cyclists join the Campaign. Synergy with FLOW project of Sofia Municipality

B2W Non-stop Campaign - Challenges Main Challenge: Using the data from the traffic observation center in Burgas modal share of cycling showed increase only with to 2% after constructing 60 km of cycling lanes in (almost the full capacity). Conclusion: Long term campaigns involving Local Authorities are needed for mobility behavior change and building a positive image of cyclists. Future B2W campaigns are essential for the increase of the modal share.

B2W Certicication of CFE- Sunny Beach resort nomination In Sunny Beach there are 70 000 employees, strict restrictions for motorized traffic and limited parking possibilities. 15% use a bike for daily transport in the complex, 6% - B2W (4200 people for 2017 campaign!!) The resort is the perfect place for B2W and cycling during the working day.

B2W Certicication of CFE – conditional acceptance for campaign continuation - Trainig seminar with participation of the Mayor of Burgas, August 2016. - The Annual CFE Awards nominations will be in March 2017. Certified Companies so far: LUKOIL, HP, Bulgarian National Radio, Nestle

B2W Media Coverage in Bulgaria B2W Media Coverage in Bulgaria. B2W awarded with “Green Oscar” from B2B Media annual Awards. 50% of the nominated companies are currently negotiating B2W certification

B2W Media Coverage in Bulgaria B2W Media Coverage in Bulgaria. Main message: “There is a personal story behind every cyclist”. We searched those stories, we provoked cyclists to share them – why they cycle, how their love to cycling was triggered. And how the bicycle changed or influenced their life. The selection is an ongoing process and a Media agency is publishing an interesting B2W story each month.

B2W- Extra Activities and New Approaches or how to get more people cycle more often. “Responsible Consumption” concept is a tool for Mobility Behavior Change based on the responsible consumption of products and services with low a carbon print. It is a synergic focal point with the “green” concept, BIO and natural products, “Paleo” , “Bushcraft” “Vegan” life stiles. Cycling is NOT about luxuries, expensive brands and overpriced products and services. “Active mobility/commuting” concept was developed during B2W workshops, trainings and consultations with the idea for a joint pedestrian-cycling campaign for motorized traffic reduction Proposed initiative/platform AMATEUR – Active Mobility Attitude and Training for Efficient Urban Reform

B2W- Extra Activities and New Approaches 25% of campaign participants showed FEAR from stealing their bike agaian Campaign “My second old bike” is targeting change of perception to old bikes. The message is – respect old bikes, restore them and they will serve you as a reliable transport mode, which is less likely to be stolen. Responsible Consumption is a leading concept in this campaign. H

B2W- Future Goals – Initiatives for traffic Reduction using the “Active Mobility ” concept 40% from participants in our questionnaires cycle only occasionally because of the traffic TRAUM – Traffic Reduction via Active Urban Mobility COMMUTER – Cycling Oriented Measures for Mobility and Urban Traffic Efficiency and Regulation Supported by Ministry of Environment

B2W- Future Goals – Contra Flow, supported by Municipality of Sofia 13% from the B2W participants are willing to cycle on contra flow streets. Still not legally possible to plan Contra Flow in Bulgaria. Currently, only a pilot action in Sofia demonstrates its benefit for the traffic. Joint Activities with Municipality of Sofia, “Do The Right Mix” with the supporting initiative “CONTRA FLOW” - Cycling Oriented Network for Traffic Reduction As a Formula for Local Authorities Welfare

B2W- Future Goals – Health Ministry (WHO office) support for B2W Non Stop with a joint campaign PreDICT Preliminary talks for a joined campaign with The Ministry of Health in support of B2W Non Stop - PreDICT – Preventing of Diseases by Integration of Cycling in Transport Planning of joint campaigns for Mobility Behaviour Change using the funds, planned in the action plan of the European Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable diseases.
