Ensure access to training and support for skilled in-demand jobs. Community Agenda VitalSigns.org CHELincoln.org/placematters.org innovation Create a world class ecosystem for innovation where Lincoln is the epicenter 5

In our community, the average person in poverty is a single, white mom, with at least one job and with two school-aged children. - Vital Signs, 2015 62% hard to find workers 31% of people with less than high school in poverty. 11% with HSD Fewer than half of Lincoln adults have at least an associate’s degree Poverty increased 58% between 2006-2016 500 homeless students; 90% not homeless before High mobility in rental unit and employment No professional certification Nebraska 3rd highest state of people working more than 1 job Everybody works  Underemployment Who are we helping? We are helping people move from part-time jobs to sustainable, stable employment. This is who we are helping. If mom can connect to services and get skills- she will never need benefits again. End poverty one family at a time by moving from part-time jobs to full-time careers. Talk about paycards? Dynamic scheduling? Losing hours to go get your kid? Kawasaki and tunnel of death?

Why Employment Skills Matters 7_85 Why Employment Skills Matters In Lincoln, we have people struggling to make ends meet and employers cannot find the people they need. For good jobs. The end of poverty is professional certification and a career pathway position. Advances in technology and changes in workplace organizations have hit low skilled and less educated persons. Those who enter adulthood without a job or degree are much less likely to attain sustainable, full-time employment when they are older. Persons who have spent time in prison have a harder time finding work that will support them. 5
