SharePoint Enterprise SharePoint Environment (ESE) Replaces the current Vignette intranet (connect.michigan.gov); not the internet Allows the flexibility to create intranet sites first and add team rooms later, or vice versa Training classes (e.g. site admin and team rooms) and project management are available to assist. (Available to users maintaining SharePoint sites currently in progress) Tom will speak, Tanis, Brad, Evelyn and John Baer will provide input
SharePoint Why the change? Current Vignette intranet will no longer be supported; it will be shut down effective 9/30/2013 MS SharePoint provides the collaboration tools and environment being requested to meet the requirements of today’s work environment
SharePoint Benefits and Functionality Improved functionality; team rooms; individual work areas referred to as My Sites Easily publish and share documents, calendars, and information Intuitive, rich, and robust user interface MS Office integration and Outlook integration Leverages the State’s MS Active Directory – resulting in the same username/password for access Agencies are the site owners and control permissions on their sites Seamless cross-department environment for collaboration and sharing
