Housing solution : flag stored in-house pfMS Am 2677 Lincoln & Hamlin :  [No place, ca. 1860]  1 flag : ink on cotton, wood ; 28 x 45 cm.

Housing solution : flag stored in-house

Wooden handle tied to 2 laminated boards with cloth tape

Two pieces of cloth tape (not one) were v-folded and pasted between the boards so as not to put pressure on the narrow area between slots.

Box is marked “keep flat” and labelled along right edge so that if it is pulled down from a high shelf, the position of the cloth portion of the flag will be less likely to be disturbed by gravity. A third piece of board is at the bottom of the box, in case the flag needs to be untied for examination. If this were to travel, a thick layer of polyester could be laid on top of the flag to help keep the cloth from shifting.
