Military support education 2017 Volume 3

What is Drive for the deployed (DFTD)? DFTD was FOUNDED AT IMMANUEL Lutheran Church in Bluefield, West Virginia. After being involved in military support with other organizations for over a decade, we were ready to bring our very own organization to southern west Virginia and southwest Virginia.

Our mission is… to offer a wide variety of support that promote overall wellness in our service members, veterans, and their families.

Active duty support From basic training to retirement, we offer support for each stage of a service members career. 1)Basic training support- cards and handwritten letters 2)Pre-deployment support- family dinners, entertainment items for flight 3)Deployment packs- fox River socks, gold bond, itunes and amazon cards, quality drink mixes/coffee, and etc. 4)Welcome home packages- family dinners, commissioned art work by amy leftwich of black oak mountain art, and etc.

Active duty Support 5) chaplain support- Religious items are only offered to chaplains unless requested by the service member directly. We send Bibles, Bible studies, itunes cards, greeting cards, pocket coins, pass it on cards, and etc. 6) Retirement wishes- Family dinners and congratulatory cards. We add to our programming annually! We offer bulk shipments for groups as large as 500!

!!!We are working hard to expand this programming f0r 2018!!! Veteran support We support local veterans organizations such as VFW Post 9696! We send handmade items from our Knots n Stitches craft fellowship, such a chemo beanies and throws to the local VA hospitals. !!!We are working hard to expand this programming f0r 2018!!!

Family support Our kids club is specifically geared towards children who have a deployed parent. Every month their parent is deployed, we send the child their own care package that contains interactive and developmental activities and toys.

100% of all donations go directly to our programming. We are always looking for volunteers! Contact us today! driveforthedeployed@gmail.com www.dftdwv.org P.o. box 888 Bluefield, wv 24701 Find us on Facebook!
