Background Info FDR’s New Deal was his plan to solve the Great Depression 3 Goals of New Deal legislation and programs: 1. Relief 2. Recovery 3. Reform One major problem as a result of the Great Depression was the elderly population had not saved for retirement. This caused: 1. Older generations kept working as long as physically possible 2. Severe poverty for the elderly who could no longer work The Reform solution to this problem was the Social Security Act
