What is Bio Remediation  Introduction   Madipakkam Lake which is heavily polluted due to Sewage inflow and solid waste dumping in the lake which result in proliferation of green Algae & Cyanobacteria (Blue Green Algae). In the Lake green algae consumes more oxygen and grows in the water hence fishes will not get the oxygen results in fish deaths. These are generally due to low Dissolved Oxygen in the lake which will result in bad odor & mosquitoes breeding.

Technology application Diatom Algae are a major group of algae. They are different from other algae such as Cyanobacteria (Blue Green Algae) and Green Algae. Diatoms are responsible for about 25% of all oxygen in the atmosphere and 50% of the food in the oceans. Diatoms are at the bottom of the marine food chain and are consumed by Zooplankton and these by Fish. Diatoms increase the dissolved oxygen level of water rapidly. We cause a bloom of diatoms using our advance bio-remediation technology.

Function of Bio remediation Bio remediation triggers an organic process. These are the micro nutrients required by Diatom Algae and that are not generally present in water in adequate quantity. Diatoms are the only phytoplankton that have a silica body and hence Diatoms bloom when Bio remediation is used. They out compete other phytoplankton and hence dominate the water body. Polluted water contains Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus and these are the macro nutrients required by plants and phytoplankton. When Silica and micro nutrients are provided in addition to the macro nutrients already available Diatoms bloom rapidly.

Dosage Initial dose would be computed based on the dead stock of water and repeat dosage on the inflow. Repeat dosage may be daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly depending on the inflow volume and nutrient level. Overdosing will give negative results and is harmful to fish, since the excess bloom of Diatoms will clog the gills of the fish.

Project Completion in 4 days Final desirable D.O level achieved through bio remediation & saved thousand of fishes and now fishes are breathing easily & grow in the lake with clear & odorless water. Handed over the project to the concerned authorities for regular maintenance.
