Presentation transcript:

My Online magazine pitch Alexander reeve

introduction My magazine will be about Anime The genre will be art for a niche audience The magazine will be monthly The price will be free

Name ideas Some of my magazine name ideas include: OtakUK , Anime UK Animania The Borderline Otaku Anime Phase I am going to use OtakUK because it is a play on words and a bit more subtle than other titles I came up with. It is also not currently being used unlike Anime UK and Animania. The title is a play on words combining the Japanese word for anime nerd, Otaku and UK. Otaku isn’t always that simple though it can have certain implications in Japanese culture, synonymous with shut in’s and people who never leave their basement accept to get the latest figurine or merchandise.

Some font examples for OtakUK:

Target audience My target audience is younger people around my age that have an interest in Japanese pop culture, mostly Anime. People around college age but they generally have to already have an interest in anime because most people see anime as childish and group the genre with cartoons. Profile: Age: Around 16-25 Gender: Mostly male Interests: Predominantly, Anime, Manga and video games (Japanese pop culture)

price This e-magazine will be free. This will be a one off issue, but if I where to continue it, it would be monthly and the price would be around £1 - £2.50 because I want this magazine to be cheap as other, similar magazines are very expensive. This magazine will be free because I was planning on doing this kind of research and analysis and I want to share it with others in the community and this project gives me a way to do that.

Advertisement This magazine will be primarily advertised through social media and shared around that way. If I where to do paid ads I would do most, if not all of my advertising online as most people who like anime share it online because most people aren’t as interested. Most people who are into anime in this country are few and far between. You usually fid only one fan per classroom, also they tend to be quite shy, so they save all their interest for when they get home and go online to find it.

unique selling point This magazine will be made by the fans for the fans. It will offer objective analysis on top anime titles and recommendations of lesser known anime based on similar genres. This magazine will also be free so even if your not too sure about the content it will be worth looking at just to see a few anime recommendations.

Flat plan Left third Masthead Date strapline Main image cover lines This is the basic idea for my magazine, it will follow most of the codes and conventions but it will also not include some like a barcode because it will be an online magazine. The masthead will be big and bold so it stands out, but also behind the main image to not draw attention away from it The strapline will be a catchy slogan to get you interested in the magazine The selling line usually contains what makes the magazine unique, usually ‘the best’ of the similar magazines on the market The pug is bold and used to catch the readers eye, usually containing a feature or special price. This one will be free. The cover lines are usually mostly on the left to keep with the rules of the left third, but not exclusively to make the magazine seem unbalanced and tell the reader what kind of stories will be in the magazine The left third is the rule that most cover lines and features are on the left because when they are stacked in shops sometimes the left third is all that is shown The main image will be of a well known character to attract the attention of the reader The anchor text is a cover line attached to the main image to help draw attention Other images are also used to draw in attention and show what the magazine contains Date, so the audience knows which issue they are buying Left third Masthead Date strapline Main image pug cover lines cover lines Anchor text image cover line Selling line

content The magazine will contain analysis of existing anime titles of all genres, as well as up and coming titles, analysis of arguments synonymous with anime (like dubbed or subbed), top lists of most genres and reviews of existing titles. The main focus will be analysis because there are so many top lists and reviews online. So this will focus more on objective analysis of different titles as well as other standards with this kind of magazine, like up and coming and bonus inclusions.

Any questions?
