Welcome to Primary 6 2016 - 2017

A Typical Day In Primary 6 Lining Up P6 and P7 Pupils will line up outside the New Building in their House Teams – points will given. Neuron Bomb Pupils will be expected to enter the building quietly and calmly then into class for - Phones/Register/Letters/Morning Jobs/Neuron Bomb Morning / Afternoon Lessons Pupils will have the opportunity to work independently / in pairs / in groups most days. A Growth Mindset attitude is encouraged to maximise learning and build confidence with independence within school and the classroom. A variety of resources will be used to enhance learning. Milk / Newsround / Daily Mile Pupils will have the opportunity to watch Newsround and discuss any issues / concerns raised as a result. The Daily Mile will take place weather/timetable permitting - Monday to Thursday. Personal Organisation Pupils will be expected to collect and use resources and maintain a well organised, efficient table and classroom throughout the day.

Weekly Timetable in Primary 6 2016 - 2017 Monday – indoor kit for PE Outdoor Running shoes required Monday to Thursday for Daily Mile Thursday – PE – outdoor kit Tuesday – Spelling and Big Maths Assessments Wednesday – Homework Given Out – French TBC Friday –Golden Time, Reflections, JASS (info to follow )

Primary 6 Homework Spelling Homework – Term 1 Any homework handed out will have been discussed previously and children should be recording in their homework diary. Spelling Homework – Term 1 given out on a Wednesday return following Tuesday – spelling assessment in back of jotter (Will change Term 2 – Homework Wall ) Maths Homework – Big Maths Beat That - Term 1 given out on a Wednesday return following Tuesday for assessment – new level if achieved (Will change Term 2 – Problem Solving ) Reading and Writing Homework - Term 1 given out on a Wednesday and will be associated with a research task To be returned within 2 or 3 weeks x 3 this term (Will change Term 2 – Literacy Circle Roles and Homework Wall)

Golden Time / Rewards We encourage children to follow the Golden Rules within school and in the playground and to follow the Class Rules which have been shared with you. If children are persistently not following both the Golden Rules and/or the classroom rules, Golden Time will be lost. Pupils will be asked to reflect on their behaviour to encourage better choices to avoid losing Golden Time in the future. Pupils who are following rules / setting a good example can earn House Points, Pebble Points or Bookmark Stickers - all of which offer their own rewards!
