Algebra II Fundamentals Mrs. Garibaldi lgaribaldi@nutleyschools.org

What you will need for Class: 3-ring binder with loose filler paper Calculator Pencils

Do not bring to Class: Cell phone hats music players Food or drinks They will be taken if they are in the teacher’s view.

detentions: All detentions are held after school at 2:40PM except for cell phones. There are NO CELL PHONES allowed at any time for ANY reasons. You must put your phone in your assigned pocket at the beginning of the class and keep it there till the bell rings. You CAN’T charge your phone in my classroom. You CAN’T use your cell phone as a calculator. If I see a cell phone, for any reasons, it is mine and I will give it only to the administrator. At that point you have to face consequences with the administrator. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Class requirements: Be ready when the bell rings. This means, be in your seats getting your homework, notebook, and pencil out on your desk. There will be a Warm Up activity each day on the board, and you will need to complete it as quickly as you can to keep the class on schedule. Take notes on class discussions. Copy down new vocabulary words, methods of solving problems, examples, and any helpful hints. Study for quizzes/tests. Review textbook, notes, new vocabulary words, and homework problems. ask questions Be an active participant in a positive way. This means, do your homework every night, ask questions, respect other students, and work hard as an individual and as a group member.

Grading Info: Tests: 100pts, Quizzes: 50pts, Mini-Quizzes: 10-20pts, and Projects are 80% of grade Homework and Participation is 20% of grade. * Each marking period counts twice, the midterm counts once, and the final exam counts once towards the final grade (10 grades total) Ex: 0.2 x 90 + 0.2 x 89 + 0.2 x 88 + 0.2 x 87 + 0.1 x 80 + +0.1 x 80 = Your Final Grade

homework Each homework is 10 points. The homework is due next day when it’s given. If the student does not have the homework, then the student will receive a zero for that assignment. It is students’ responsibility to ask questions about homework problems that he/she struggles with, and be able to explain the solutions of the homework problems. If the student struggled to solve a problem, he/she must show some effort of solving a problem, it doesn’t count if the student only copied the problem and put a question mark next to it. If a student has no questions about the h/w problems and asked by the teacher to reproduce one of the homework problems, then the students should be able to do so and earn the h/w credit. The only homework that can be made up is when a student is absent. If a student is absent or on a field trip, it is that student’s responsibility to get the make-up work and hand it in before the student takes the next quiz or test.

Quizzes/tests If a student is absent, they have five days once they returned to make up a quiz or test, otherwise its zero. They must do this on their own time (after school or during their lunch period). All work must be shown in order to get a full credit. No calculator/pencil/eraser sharing allowed If you planning to be absent during any school days, please let me know in advance.

Extra help I am available most days after school, at the resource room 101 (period 7), and during my lunch (period 6). Please, let me know in advance if you are planning to come after school or during my lunch. Resource room 101 (periods 4 - 7) is also available for extra help. Take advantage of it – it’s FREE
