Early Life Born January 4th, 1643 Lincolnshire, England Born 3 months after death of his father Attended The King’s School

Education Removed from school in 1659 Returned to finish his educaiton Became Top ranked student Attended Trinity College in Cambrige

Influence Newton’s school focused on teachings of Aristotle Personally interested in Descartes, Galileo, Copernicus, and Kepler

Early Work In 1665, Newton discovered the Binomial theory. Describes the algebraic expansion of powers of a binomial Developed infinitesimal calculus Did background work in calculus, optics, and laws of gravitation

Calculus Work Responsible for furthering the world of mathematics and calculus Newton’s identities, Newton’s method, etc. He classified cubic plane curves Approximated partial sums of the harmonic series by logarithms. Awarded for his work and elected Lucasian Professor of Mathematics

3 Laws of Motion 1. An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force 2. F=MA Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

Other Studies Mechanics Gravitation Designed Newtonian telescope Affects on orbits Designed Newtonian telescope Theory of Gravitation
