BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER Ephesians 4:2

Bearing Bear, from Greek, ἀνέχομαι, (anechomai) to regard with tolerance, endure, put up with (cf. BDAG) “forbearing” (KJV) While we “put up” with others, as Christians, our motive is not merely tolerance.

Bearing Bear, ἀνέχομαι, (anechomai) 1 Corinthians 4:12, endure 2 Corinthians 11:1, bear a little folly 2 Timothy 4:3, not endure sound doctrine Hebrews 13:22, bear with the word Patience and endurance

Bearing We are a spiritual family! Families, while they love each other, have quirks and idiosyncrasies But they stay together. They work through their differences. Christians also have imperfections. But we must still bear with each other

Bearing with one another Ephesians 4:1-3, Colossians 3:13 Jesus, our example of bearing with one another – cf. Matthew 17:17 Paul, an example of bearing with others – 1 Corinthians 4:12. In spite of all he endured, never stopped caring – cf. 2 Cor. 11:28, Philippians 1:21-26

Bearing with one another Requires: Patience, 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Love, 1 Peter 4:8, 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7 Work – endeavoring Ephesians 4:3

Bearing with one another Requires: A willingness to deal with it! Cf. Philippians 2:3-4, Galatians 6:1 A willingness to forgive, Colossians 3:13

Bearing one another’s burdens Galatians 6:2 A different word, βαστάζω, (bastazō) – to endure (carry) something unpleasant or difficult, for oneself or others. Cf. Matthew 3:11, Matthew 20:12, Luke 14:27, Galatians 6:5 Romans 15:1

Bearing one another’s burdens Galatians 6:2 A different word, βαστάζω, (bastazō) – to endure (carry) something unpleasant or difficult, for oneself or others. Cf. Matthew 3:11, Matthew 20:12, Luke 14:27, Romans 15:1

Bearing one another’s burdens Galatians 6:2, 5 We all have personal loads that we must bear ourselves (none can do it for us). BUT, we also have heavy and difficult loads that call for helping one another. Instead of being critical and harsh toward differences and concerns, why not seek to HELP them bear their load?

Let us resolve to bear with one another… Even as God bears with us!
