Butte Falls Charter School Open House & Annual Title I Meeting Welcome!

Butte Falls Charter School is a Title I School. What is a Title I School? A Title I Schools receive money from the Federal Government to help ensure that children meet challenging state academic standards.

Parent’s Rights under essa every student succeeds act Right to request teacher qualifications. Right to request to meet regularly with staff for parent involvement. Right to particate in decisions effecting your child. Right to review school’s Title I- A Plan and make suggestions. Right to participate in decisions effecting your child. Right to participate in school activities.

Butte Falls Charter School Title IA: School Level Parent Involvement Plan   Butte Falls Charter School will take the following actions to involve parents in the joint development of its parental involvement plan: Include parent representation during the development of the plan. Parents will be asked to participate through the title I annual meetings and Site Council meetings. Hold a series of meetings at a time that parent council members may attend. The parent Involvement Policy draft will be shared with the Butte Falls School District Site Council, OR the Community School Partnership for feedback. 2. Butte Falls Charter School will take the following actions to involve parents in the process of school review and improvement: Parents on the building Site Council will be involved in the development of the school Improvement Plan, Continuous Improvement Plan, all Title programs & other federally funded grants. Parents, who are economically disadvantaged, disabled, have limited English proficiency, limited literacy, are migratory, or are of any racial, cultural or ethnic minority background, will be actively recruited as council/council members.

Butte Falls Charter School will provide the following necessary coordination, technical assistance, and other support to assist in planning and implementing effective parental involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance: Pay reasonable and necessary expanses, within the means of the parent involvement activities, including child care costs to enable parents to participate in school-related meetings and training sessions Adopt a model for approaches to improve parent involvement at the school level.( see #8) Butte Falls Charter School will coordinate and integrate effective parental involvement strategies and programs. Programs offered at this school include: Family Literacy & Math Programs (Title I Reading Nights and Math Nights) Coordinate written materials to parents regarding these programs in English and Spanish. Coordinate parent involvement activities with ESL, Title I reading and the regular Education Program. Require meetings of staff, for the purpose of planning fall, winter and spring parent involvement activities. 5. Butte Falls Charter School will take the following actions to conduct, with the involvement of parents, an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of this parental involvement activities (with particular attention to parents who are economically disadvantaged, are disabled, have limited English proficiency, have limited literacy, are migratory, or are of any racial or ethnic minority background). The school/district will use the findings of the evaluation about its parental involvement policy and activities to design strategies for more effective parental involvement policies. Survey parents twice a year through a bilingual (Spanish/English) questionnaire, once in the early fall and once before the end of the year. A summary of the Parent Involvement Policy will be included in the registration packets.   Butte Falls Charter School will build the school’s, Districts and parents capacity for strong involvement. This will ensure effective involvement of parents and support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement, through the following activities described below: The Butte Falls Charter School & the Butte Falls School District will provide assistance to parents in understanding topics such as: Oregon’s academic content standards Oregon’s student academic achievement standards Oregon and local academic assessments including alternate assessments The requirements of applicable federal Title Programs. How to monitor their child’s progress How to work with educators.

The activities to assist parents include: Parent information night describing/demonstrating on-going assessments Parent information describing Title I and ESL program requirements Brochures where applicable Monthly Newsletter Parent Literacy & Math Nights Activities will be planned in the evening as most families are available to participate. Food, take-home books, and parent-child reading information will be provided. 7. Butte Falls Charter School will provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s academic achievement, such as literacy training, and using technology, and using information from the parent/ community surveys. Title I Annual Meeting Reading Night we will present information regarding the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, the Parent-Teacher-Student Compact, Butte Falls School District Parent Involvement Policy and a description of the Title I program at Butte Falls School District.   8. Butte Falls Charter School will, with the assistance of its parents, educate its teachers, pupil services personnel, principals and other staff, in how to reach out to, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners, in the value and utility of contributions of parents, and in how to implement and coordinate parent programs and build ties between parents and schools, by: Provide an in-service for parent/family involvement strategies. Provide professional development opportunities for parent/family involvement strategies.

9. Butte Falls Charter School will, to the extent feasible and appropriate, coordinate and integrate parental involvement programs and activities with and preschool and other programs, and conduct other activities, such as parent resource centers, that encourage and support parents in more fully participating in the education of their children.   10. Butte Falls Charter School will take the following actions to ensure that information related to the school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities, is sent to the parents of participating children in an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats upon request, and to the extent practicable, in a language the parents can understand. Parent Involvement Bulletin Board to be placed in the front of the school to provide parents with information of upcoming Title I Events and Literacy and Math Nights. When necessary, staff members will conduct in-home conferences or telephone conferences between teachers or other educators who work directly with participating children to maximize parent involvement.

September 2007 ADPOTION OF THE PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT POLICY This Parental Involvement Policy has been developed jointly with, and agreed on by parents of children of Butte Falls Secondary School and the Title I Site Council. First adoption 9/2007 This plan was reviewed and readopted by the Butte Falls School District Site Council on 9.21.15 and will be in effect for the period of one year.   A copy of this plan is available by request.

We want you, the parent to be involved! Butte Falls Charter School wants and needs a parent group to help with fundraisers, activities and decision making.

How do I get Involved? Contact your school building Office Manager or the District Office & let them know you want to: Volunteer Be part of a Parent Group Attend Site Council, Charter Board, or School Board Meetings.

Charter Board Meeting-Same night, same place starting a 6:00 pm. Site Council/Parent Involvement Meeting-Third Wednesday of every month 5:30-6:00 p.m. at elementary library. Charter Board Meeting-Same night, same place starting a 6:00 pm. School Board Meetings – 2nd Monday of every Month. Continuous Improvement Planning Meetings – To be announced
