Traditions and habits in Slovakia Matúš Kuchta 9.A

Traditions and habits at Christmas Christmas are a holiday of calm and peace. Advent begins four weeks before Christmas Eve. Homes are filled with the aroma of freshly baked Christmas sweets. People go to Christmas markets.We buy freshly- cut Christmas trees or we he artificial tree from last Christmas. The typical meal for Christmas Eve dinner is fish soup, fried carp, potato salad, sweets and fruits. After dinner, the family go around the tree to open presents.

We give a money under the tablecloth on a table because we want more money for a next year.

We eat a garlic to be healthy for the next year.

Always after the dinner we cut an apple on the half and if there is a star we will have good year full of health and happiness but if there is a cross we will be unhappy and we will be often ill.

Traditions and habbits at Easter From morning men and boys go to their friends and watered or whip women and girls with handmade wicker whip.

We sing a carol and wish to girls and woman to be nice, beautiful and clever.

Traditions and habbits at New year We go to our friends and we wish them happy new year and everything good to to new year. We wish them much money, good luck good health to new year.

At twelve o‘clock we have a glass of champagne At twelve o‘clock we have a glass of champagne. We drink it and we wish happy new year. Then we watch on a fireworks. New Year’s Eve, December 31st, this day means the end of the old year and the beginning of the year new. It is celebrated very noisy and hilarious.
