Density of Matter Bundle 6: Chemistry

density Density is a material specific property of Matter. Everything that has matter, has density. Density is determined using the formula,

You can measure the mass of an object using a Triple Beam Balance.

There are two ways to get the volume of an object. Measure the displacement of fluid by the object in a graduated cylinder in [mL]. (Irregular shaped objects) Calculate the volume of a rectangular object using V = L x W x H by measuring each side in [cm].

How to Read a Graduated Cylinder To read the water level on a graduated cylinder, you have to get on eye level with the bottom of the meniscus.

This will be your Density Problem Notebook practice . Shade one to the 200 mL mark and shade the second to the mark 6 lines above the 200 mL mark. This will be your Density Problem

Notebook Practice On your Sheet of paper, DRAW the rocks where you see them in the picture on your Graduated Cylinder Cuts that you have already shaded. (Don’t change the values!) Determine what the volume of the rock is based on the pictures. If the rock has a mass of 10 g, what is the DENSITY of this rock?
